We were asked to create an album cover with a handmade element.
I designed the album for L.A. Woman by The Doors. This album was the last album made by The Doors before Jim Morrison—their main vocal artist and face of the band—died from a drug and alcohol related heart attack. I wanted to create something personal and emotional——evoking feelings of sadness, but also hope. I found that the color of turmeric really communicated these emotions. I hand dyed my bedsheets with turmeric, let them stray at the ends, and handcrafted the type.
